Fried Onions
A classic recipe for fried onions, perfect as a side dish.
Ingredients
- 2 large Onions
- 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
- 2 cups Vegetable oil
Instructions
- 1Peel the onions, holding them and your hands under cold running water to prevent tears. Wash and cut the onions crosswise into rings, keeping the rings undivided.
- 2Place the onion rings in a bowl and toss with the flour until evenly coated.
- 3Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the floured onion rings to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 5-6 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping occasionally.
- 4Remove the fried onion rings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
- 5Serve the fried onions immediately, ideally with a beefsteak or other desired accompaniment.
