Fried Onions

A classic recipe for fried onions, perfect as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 2 large Onions
  • 1/2 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 cups Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1Peel the onions, holding them and your hands under cold running water to prevent tears. Wash and cut the onions crosswise into rings, keeping the rings undivided.
  2. 2Place the onion rings in a bowl and toss with the flour until evenly coated.
  3. 3Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the floured onion rings to the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 5-6 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, flipping occasionally.
  4. 4Remove the fried onion rings from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. 5Serve the fried onions immediately, ideally with a beefsteak or other desired accompaniment.
