Cottage Pudding (Sauce)

A simple cottage pudding with sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 lump (size of egg) Butter
  • 1 pint Flour
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 2 heaping teaspoonfuls Baking powder (Originally Royal Baking Powder.)
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 teaspoonful Flour
  • 1 small piece Butter
  • 1 cup Water (Boiling)
  • 1 teaspoonful Vanilla Extract (Originally Royal Extract Vanilla.)

Instructions

  1. 1Combine 1 cup of sugar, 1 cup of milk, 1 egg, a lump of butter (size of an egg), 1 pint of flour, salt, and 2 heaping teaspoonfuls of baking powder in a bowl. Mix well.
  2. 2In a separate saucepan, mix 1 cup of sugar, 1 egg, 1 teaspoonful of flour, and a small piece of butter. Add boiling water and let it come to a boil. Flavor with vanilla extract.
