Chicken a l'Italienne
A classic chicken dish with a flavorful tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Remains of cooked chicken, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 12 Tomatoes, diced
- 1 cup Chicken broth
- 2 tablespoonfuls Onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoonful Fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 saltspoonful Salt
- 1 saltspoonful White pepper
- 1 saltspoonful Dried thyme (Originally Royal thyme. Substituted with dried thyme.)
- 1 saltspoonful Dried summer savory
- 1 tablespoonful Butter (or vegetable shortening) (Originally butter. Substituted with butter for modern preference. Can also use vegetable shortening for similar texture.)
- as needed Lard (for frying) (For frying. Use a neutral oil like vegetable or canola oil if preferred.)
- as needed Common Batter
Instructions
- 1Cut the remains of chicken into small, bite-sized pieces.
- 2Dip the chicken pieces into the Common Batter.
- 3Heat plenty of lard (or oil) in a pan until hot. Fry the battered chicken pieces until crisp and golden brown.
- 4Serve the fried chicken with Tomato Sauce.
