Butter Scotch

A simple recipe for butterscotch candy.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups Granulated Sugar
  • 2 tablespoonfuls Water
  • 1 piece Butter (Amount equivalent to the size of an egg.)

Instructions

  1. 1In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Cook over medium heat, without stirring, until the mixture reaches the hard-crack stage (300-310°F or 149-154°C) or until it hardens when dropped into cold water.
  2. 2Remove the saucepan from the heat and immediately add the butter. Stir gently until the butter is melted and incorporated. Pour the hot mixture onto buttered plates to cool completely.
