Broiled Steak
A classic recipe for broiled steak, using simple ingredients and techniques.
Ingredients
- 1 piece Rump steak (Rump steak is recommended for broiling.)
- 1 ounce Butter
- as needed Pepper
- as needed Salt
- 1 lump Butter
- as needed Catsup
Instructions
- 1Have the rump steak cut about 1/2 to 3/4 inch in thickness. Season with salt and pepper.
- 2Place a gridiron over a clear fire (or preheat your broiler). Rub the bars with fat (butter). Place the steak on the gridiron and broil for 8-10 minutes, turning frequently. Carefully prick the fat with a fork to prevent the steak from hardening.
- 3Have a hot dish ready. Place a lump of butter (about the size of a large walnut) on the dish. Add catsup, pepper, and salt. Lay the steak on the dish, rubbing it lightly with butter. Serve as quickly as possible.
