Breakfast Biscuit
A simple biscuit recipe from 1888.
Ingredients
- 1 quart Whole milk (Originally sweet milk. Substituted with whole milk.)
- 1/2 cupful Butter
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 tablespoonfuls Baking powder
- 2 cups All-purpose flour
Instructions
- 1In a large bowl, whisk together the whole milk, melted butter, and salt. Add the baking powder and flour. Mix until just combined, forming a stiff batter. Do not overmix.
- 2Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Drop spoonfuls of the batter into buttered tins. Bake for 20 minutes, or until golden brown and the biscuits are light and tender.
