Bread Pudding No. 2
A classic bread pudding recipe.
Ingredients
- 3 rolls or muffins Stale rolls or muffins
- 3 eggs Eggs
- 1 1/2 pints Whole milk (Originally "milk".)
- 1 cupful Granulated sugar (Originally "sugar".)
- 1 teaspoonful Lemon extract (Originally "Royal Extract Lemon".)
- as needed Butter (For greasing the pudding dish.)
Instructions
- 1Cut or tear the stale rolls or muffins into pieces. Place them in a bowl.
- 2Pour the milk over the rolls/muffins. Let them soak until thoroughly saturated, about 10 minutes. Then, gently squeeze out some of the excess milk.
- 3In a bowl, combine the soaked rolls/muffins, milk (from soaking), sugar, eggs, and lemon extract. Stir until well combined and smooth.
- 4Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a pudding dish with butter. Pour the bread pudding mixture into the prepared dish. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the pudding is set and the top is golden brown.
- 5Serve warm with Hard Sauce (see Sauces).
