Boiled Pigs Feet
A traditional recipe for boiled pigs feet.
Ingredients
- 12 pigs feet Pigs feet
- 1/2 tablespoon Cloves
- 1/2 tablespoon Allspice
- 1 cup Vinegar
- to taste Salt
Instructions
- 1Wash the 12 pigs feet thoroughly. Place them in a deep pan and pour scalding water over them. Remove the pigs feet and burn off any remaining hair using a piece of paper, similar to cleaning a fowl. Place the cleaned pigs feet in warm water.
- 2Boil the pigs feet slowly for 1 1/2 hours, or until tender.
- 3Place the cooked pigs feet in vinegar and let simmer very slowly for another 1/2 hour.
- 4Fill a small muslin bag with equal portions of cloves and allspice. The bag should be about the size of an egg. Tie up the bag and drop it into the pigs feet and vinegar. Let everything boil for 10 minutes.
- 5Salt to taste and serve.
