Asparagus on Toast
A simple recipe for asparagus on toast.
Ingredients
- 1 bunch Asparagus
- 6 slices Bread
- as needed Butter
- as needed Salt
- as needed Black Pepper
Instructions
- 1Cut asparagus stalks to equal lengths, discarding the woody portions and any scrapings. Retain the whiter parts. Tie the asparagus into a bunch with soft tape.
- 2Cook the asparagus in boiling water for about 30 minutes if the stalks are of a fair size; if small, cook for 20 minutes.
- 3Have ready 6 or 8 slices of nicely toasted bread.
- 4Dip the toasted bread in the asparagus cooking liquid, butter well, and lay on a hot dish. Drain the asparagus, untie, and arrange on the toast. Season with pepper and salt to taste.
