Apple Dumplings, No. 2

A classic apple dumpling recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 package Pie crust (prepared or homemade) (Originally 'Paste, No. 3'. This refers to a pie crust recipe. Use a prepared pie crust or your favorite recipe.)
  • 8 medium Apples
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. 1Peel and core the apples. Set aside.
  2. 2Roll out the pie crust and cut into 8 squares, approximately 4 inches each. Place an apple in the center of each square. Fill the core cavity with sugar. Wet the four corners of the pie crust square with water and bring them to the top of the apple, pinching to seal.
  3. 3Place the assembled dumplings on a baking sheet. Sift sugar over the dumplings. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the apples are tender.
  4. 4Serve warm with Hard Sauce (optional).
