Apple Dumplings, No. 1
A classic apple dumpling recipe.
Ingredients
- 6 apples Apples
- 1 cupful Sugar
- as needed Paste (pie crust)
- as needed Water
Instructions
- 1Peel, core, and slice the apples.
- 2Roll out the paste (pie crust) thinly. Wet the edges of 6 cups (or ramekins). Line the cups with the paste. Fill each cup with sliced apples and some sugar. Cover with more paste.
- 3Place the prepared dumplings in a shallow stewpan with boiling water to reach halfway up the cups. Steam for 45 minutes.
- 4Turn the dumplings out onto a dish and sift sugar over them. Serve with Spice Sauce (not included in original text).
