Vanilla Cream
A simple and elegant vanilla cream dessert, made with fresh vanilla bean or vanilla extract.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Heavy cream
- 0.25 cup Sugar
- 1 each Vanilla bean (Or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)
Instructions
- 1If using a vanilla bean, split it lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add the seeds and the pod to the heavy cream in a saucepan.
- 2Heat the cream over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it just begins to simmer. Do not boil.
- 3Remove from heat. Stir in the sugar until dissolved. If using vanilla extract instead of a vanilla bean, stir it in now.
- 4Let the cream cool slightly, then strain it through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the vanilla pod (if used). Pour the cream into individual serving dishes or a larger bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until completely chilled.
