Vanilla Cream

Vanilla Cream

A simple and elegant vanilla cream dessert, made with fresh vanilla bean or vanilla extract.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Heavy cream
  • 0.25 cup Sugar
  • 1 each Vanilla bean (Or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract)

Instructions

  1. 1If using a vanilla bean, split it lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add the seeds and the pod to the heavy cream in a saucepan.
  2. 2Heat the cream over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it just begins to simmer. Do not boil.
  3. 3Remove from heat. Stir in the sugar until dissolved. If using vanilla extract instead of a vanilla bean, stir it in now.
  4. 4Let the cream cool slightly, then strain it through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the vanilla pod (if used). Pour the cream into individual serving dishes or a larger bowl. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until completely chilled.
