Toasted Cheese

A simple recipe for toasted cheese, best served hot to prevent hardening.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices Cheddar Cheese (Or other cheese of your choice)
  • 4 slices Bread (Your favorite type)
  • 2 tsp Butter (Optional, for spreading on the bread)

Instructions

  1. 1If desired, lightly butter one side of each slice of bread. This will help with browning.
  2. 2Place cheese slices on two slices of bread. Top with the remaining slices of bread, butter-side up if buttered.
  3. 3Heat a Dutch oven or skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the pan and toast for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted. If using a Dutch oven, you can rotate the oven to ensure even toasting. Alternatively, use a regular frying pan and flip the sandwich.
  4. 4Serve the toasted cheese sandwich immediately on a warm plate, as it tends to get cold and hard quickly.
