Toasted Cheese
A simple recipe for toasted cheese, best served hot to prevent hardening.
Ingredients
- 4 slices Cheddar Cheese (Or other cheese of your choice)
- 4 slices Bread (Your favorite type)
- 2 tsp Butter (Optional, for spreading on the bread)
Instructions
- 1If desired, lightly butter one side of each slice of bread. This will help with browning.
- 2Place cheese slices on two slices of bread. Top with the remaining slices of bread, butter-side up if buttered.
- 3Heat a Dutch oven or skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the pan and toast for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown and the cheese is melted. If using a Dutch oven, you can rotate the oven to ensure even toasting. Alternatively, use a regular frying pan and flip the sandwich.
- 4Serve the toasted cheese sandwich immediately on a warm plate, as it tends to get cold and hard quickly.
