Stewed Onions
A simple recipe for stewed onions, cooked until tender in a saucepan with a small amount of water.
Ingredients
- 1 large Large Spanish onion (About 8-10 ounces)
- 0.5 cup Water (Or enough to reach the edge of the saucer)
Instructions
- 1Peel the onion, leaving it whole. Place a small saucer or trivet at the bottom of a saucepan.
- 2Place the onion on the saucer. Add water to the saucepan, ensuring it reaches the edge of the saucer but does not submerge the onion. Cover the saucepan tightly with a lid.
- 3Let the onion steam over low heat until it is very tender. This will take approximately 3 hours. Check the water level periodically and add a small amount more if necessary, maintaining the water level at the edge of the saucer.
