Stewed Leeks

Stewed Leeks

A simple recipe for stewed leeks, perfect as a side dish or light meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium Leeks (Trimmed and cleaned)
  • 4 cups Water (For boiling)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt (To taste)
  • 1 tablespoon Butter (Optional, for richness)

Instructions

  1. 1Trim the leeks, cutting off the dark green parts and the root end where the strings are. Only use the white and light green parts. Thoroughly wash the leeks to remove any dirt or grit.
  2. 2Bring the water to a boil in a pot. Add the trimmed and cleaned leeks. Add salt to the water.
  3. 3Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the leeks until they are tender, about 15-20 minutes. Check for tenderness with a fork.
  4. 4Drain the leeks and serve hot. Optionally, melt a tablespoon of butter over the leeks before serving for added richness.
