Simple Steamed Sea Kale
A simple recipe for preparing sea kale to preserve its delicate flavor. Serve with your choice of sauce or plain.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Sea Kale (Fresh sea kale)
- 6 cups Water (For boiling)
- 1 teaspoon Salt (To taste)
- 4 slices Toast (Plain dry toast)
- 0.25 cup Butter (Optional, for butter sauce)
Instructions
- 1Wash the sea kale thoroughly under cold running water.
- 2Bring the water to a rolling boil in a large pot. Add salt. Throw the washed sea kale into the boiling water.
- 3Cook for about 20 minutes, or until the sea kale is tender. Check for tenderness with a fork.
- 4Drain the sea kale well. Serve it on plain dry toast, keeping all the heads one way. Serve with butter sauce, white sauce, Dutch sauce, or sauce Allemande if desired, but many prefer it plain.
