Savoury Cheese Crisps
A simple recipe for savory cheese crisps, perfect as a snack or appetizer. These are made with Parmesan cheese, butter, and flour, seasoned with salt and cayenne pepper, then baked until golden brown and crispy.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Grated Parmesan cheese (Use finely grated Parmesan cheese for best results.)
- 0.5 cup Unsalted butter, softened (Softened butter is easier to incorporate into the dough.)
- 1 cup All-purpose flour
- 0.25 teaspoon Salt (Adjust to taste.)
- 0.125 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (Adjust to taste for desired spiciness.)
- 2 tablespoons Cold water (Add more if needed to form a smooth paste.)
Instructions
- 1In a medium bowl, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, softened butter, and flour. Add salt and cayenne pepper.
- 2Gradually add cold water, mixing until a smooth paste forms. Add more water, a teaspoon at a time, if needed.
- 3Place the paste on a lightly floured surface. Roll out the paste thinly, about a quarter of an inch thick.
- 4Cut the rolled-out paste into strips using a knife or pizza cutter.
- 5Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the strips on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven until they are a nice brown, about 12-15 minutes.
- 6Serve the cheese crisps hot.
