Potato Pie

Potato Pie

A simple and comforting potato pie with thinly sliced potatoes and onions, seasoned with butter, salt, pepper, and parsley, baked under a pastry crust.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 pounds Potatoes (Peeled and thinly sliced)
  • 1.5 pounds Spanish Onions (Thinly sliced. If using regular onions, use half the quantity.)
  • 0.5 cup Butter (Cut into small pieces)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper (Freshly ground, or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Parsley (Chopped)
  • 0.5 cup Water (Approximately, or as needed)
  • 1 package Pie Crust (Store-bought or homemade, enough for a 9-inch pie)

Instructions

  1. 1Peel and thinly slice the potatoes. Thinly slice the onions. If using Spanish onions, use an equal quantity of potatoes and onions. If using ordinary onions, use half the quantity of onions compared to potatoes.
  2. 2Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). In a 9-inch pie dish, place a layer of sliced onions, followed by a layer of sliced potatoes. Repeat layering until all potatoes and onions are used. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Dot with butter pieces.
  3. 3Pour in water to moisten the potatoes. Add chopped parsley.
  4. 4Cover the pie with the pie crust. Cut slits in the top of the crust to allow steam to escape. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the potatoes are tender.
