Potato Balls
These savory potato balls are a simple and satisfying side dish or snack. Mashed potatoes are seasoned with herbs and spices, formed into balls, and then fried until golden brown.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Potatoes (About 2-3 medium potatoes)
- 2 tablespoons Butter
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste)
- 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper (Or to taste)
- 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley (Chopped)
- 0.25 cup Onion (Finely chopped, or 1 shallot finely chopped)
- 1 teaspoon Dried savory herbs (Such as thyme, rosemary, or sage)
- 1 large Eggs (Well-beaten)
- 0.5 cup All-purpose flour (For coating)
- 1 cup Vegetable oil (For frying)
Instructions
- 1Peel the potatoes and cut them into evenly sized pieces. Place them in a pot, cover with cold water, and bring to a boil. Cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- 2Drain the potatoes well and return them to the pot. Add the butter, salt, pepper, parsley, onion (or shallot), and savory herbs. Mash until smooth and well combined.
- 3Stir in the beaten egg into the mashed potato mixture. Gently roll the mixture into small balls, about 1-inch in diameter.
- 4Place the flour in a shallow dish. Roll each potato ball in the flour to coat completely. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the potato balls in batches until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 5Serve the potato balls hot as a side dish or snack.
