Plain Boiled Cauliflower

Plain Boiled Cauliflower

A simple recipe for boiling cauliflower, similar to boiling broccoli.

Ingredients

  • 1 medium head Cauliflower (About 2 pounds)
  • 6 cups Water (Enough to cover the cauliflower)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste)

Instructions

  1. 1Wash the cauliflower thoroughly. Remove the outer green leaves and trim the stem. Cut the cauliflower into florets, or leave whole if small.
  2. 2Place the cauliflower florets (or whole head) in a large pot. Add enough water to cover the cauliflower. Add salt to the water.
  3. 3Bring the water to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and simmer until the cauliflower is tender. This will take about 10-15 minutes, depending on the size of the florets. Check for doneness by piercing a floret with a fork; it should be easily pierced but not mushy.
  4. 4Drain the cauliflower in a colander. Serve immediately. You can add butter, herbs, or other seasonings to taste.
