Plain Boiled Cabbage
A simple recipe for boiling cabbage, suitable as a side dish or base for further seasoning.
Ingredients
- 1 medium head Cabbage, young (Ordinary young cabbages)
- 1 tablespoon Salt (For soaking)
- 8 cups Water (For soaking and boiling)
- 2 tablespoons Butter (Optional, for serving)
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (Optional, for serving)
Instructions
- 1Trim the cabbage by removing the outside leaves and cutting off the stalk. Cut the cabbage in half or quarters, depending on size.
- 2Soak the cabbage in salt water (1 tablespoon salt in 4 cups water) for at least 15 minutes.
- 3Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a large pot. Add the cabbage and ensure it is submerged. Keep the water boiling and uncovered. Cook until the cabbage is tender, about 10-15 minutes.
- 4Drain the cabbage thoroughly. Serve immediately with butter or olive oil, if desired.
