Ornamental Turnips with Vegetable Medley
A visually appealing vegetarian dish featuring turnip cups filled with a colorful mix of carrots and peas.
Ingredients
- 8 medium Young Turnips (Choose turnips of similar size.)
- 2 medium Carrots (Peeled and diced.)
- 1 cup Green Peas (Fresh or frozen.)
- 2 tablespoons Butter (Optional, for added richness.)
- 0.5 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste.)
- 0.25 teaspoon Black Pepper (Freshly ground, or to taste.)
Instructions
- 1Wash and peel the turnips. Cut each turnip in half. Using a small spoon or melon baller, scoop out the center of each half, creating a cup shape. Reserve the scooped-out turnip flesh.
- 2Dice the reserved turnip flesh and carrots into small pieces. In a bowl, combine the diced turnip, carrots, and green peas. Season with salt and pepper. Add butter if desired.
- 3Place a mound of the vegetable medley in the center of a serving dish. Arrange the turnip cups around the base of the dish. Fill each turnip cup alternately with diced carrots and green peas, creating a visually appealing pattern.
