Orange-Water Ice
A refreshing frozen dessert made with orange juice and a touch of sweetness. This recipe is a simple variation of lemon-water ice, using oranges for a milder, sweeter flavor.
Ingredients
- 4 cups Fresh Orange Juice (From about 6-8 oranges, depending on size and juiciness)
- 0.5 cup Granulated Sugar (Adjust to taste, depending on the sweetness of the oranges. Original recipe calls for less sugar than lemon-water ice.)
- 1 cup Water (For dissolving the sugar)
Instructions
- 1In a small saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
- 2In a pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup and the fresh orange juice. Stir well to combine.
- 3Pour the mixture into a shallow freezer-safe dish. Place in the freezer and freeze for 3-4 hours, or until solid, stirring with a fork every 30-60 minutes to break up ice crystals and create a slushy texture.
