Modern Fruit Salad

A refreshing fruit salad with a light syrup dressing, perfect as a dessert or a light meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium Apples (Peeled, cored, and diced)
  • 2 medium Oranges (Peeled, segmented, and seeds removed)
  • 0.25 cup Currants (Dried currants)
  • 1 cup Pineapple (Fresh or canned, diced)
  • 2 medium Bananas (Sliced just before serving to prevent browning)
  • 1 cup Strawberries (Whole, ripe strawberries)
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar (Granulated sugar)
  • 2 tablespoons Brandy (Optional)
  • 4 cubes Ice (Optional)

Instructions

  1. 1Peel, core, and dice the apples. Peel, segment, and remove seeds from the oranges. Dice the pineapple if using fresh. Slice the bananas just before serving to prevent browning. Hull the strawberries.
  2. 2In a large bowl, gently combine the apples, oranges, currants, pineapple, and strawberries. Add the sliced bananas just before serving.
  3. 3Sprinkle the sugar over the fruit salad. If desired, add brandy. Gently toss to combine. Serve chilled with ice cubes, if desired.
