Cheese with Fried Bread
Stale bread fried until golden, topped with mustard and Parmesan cheese, then baked until the cheese melts. A simple and savory appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- 4 slices Stale bread (About 1 inch thick)
- 2 tablespoons Butter (Or oil)
- 2 tablespoons Prepared mustard (Dijon or yellow mustard)
- 1 cup Parmesan cheese (Grated)
Instructions
- 1Cut the stale bread into strips about 3 inches long, 1 inch wide, and 1 inch thick.
- 2Heat the butter or oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the bread strips until they are a nice bright golden color.
- 3Spread a layer of mustard over the fried bread strips, and then cover them with grated Parmesan cheese. Pile them up on a dish.
- 4Place the dish in the oven. As soon as the cheese begins to melt, serve them very hot.
