Cheese Sandwiches
A simple and flavorful cheese sandwich with a hint of spice, perfect as an appetizer or light snack.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Butter, softened (For the butter mixture)
- 1 pinch Black pepper (To taste)
- 1 pinch Salt (To taste)
- 1 teaspoon Prepared mustard (Such as Dijon or English mustard)
- 1 pinch Cayenne pepper (For a touch of heat)
- 8 slices Thinly sliced bread (White or whole wheat)
- 1 cup Parmesan cheese, finely grated (Freshly grated is best)
- 1 sprigs Fresh parsley (For garnish)
- 2 eggs Hard-boiled eggs (optional) (For garnish)
Instructions
- 1In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, black pepper, salt, mustard, and cayenne pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
- 2Spread the butter mixture thinly and evenly on one side of each slice of bread. Let the buttered bread sit for a few minutes to slightly firm up.
- 3Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese generously over the buttered side of half of the bread slices.
- 4Top each cheese-covered slice with another slice of buttered bread, buttered-side down. Gently press the sandwiches together.
- 5Wrap the sandwiches in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the butter to firm up. Before serving, cut the sandwiches into squares or triangles.
- 6Arrange the sandwich pieces on a serving plate. Garnish with fresh parsley sprigs. If desired, cut the ends off hard-boiled eggs and fill the small cavity with Parmesan cheese. Place these around the base of the dish.
