Boiled Asparagus
A simple recipe for boiling asparagus, served with butter sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Asparagus (Fresh asparagus spears)
- 6 cups Water (For boiling)
- 1 teaspoon Salt (For boiling water)
- 0.5 cup Butter (Unsalted, melted)
- 4 slices Toast (Dry toast)
Instructions
- 1Cut the asparagus all the same length by bringing the green points together, and then trimming the stalks level with a sharp knife. Discard the tough ends.
- 2Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Add salt. Throw the asparagus into the boiling salted water. Cook for 15 to 25 minutes, according to thickness, until tender-crisp.
- 3Drain the asparagus well. Serve on dry toast, and send melted butter sauce to table separate in a tureen or small bowl.
