Baked Tomatoes

Simple baked tomatoes, perfect as a side dish. Can be served plain or with pasta or rice.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium Tomatoes (Choose ripe but firm tomatoes)
  • 2 tablespoons Butter (Unsalted butter)
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste)
  • 0.125 teaspoon Black pepper (Freshly ground, or to taste)

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash and core the tomatoes. Place them in a baking dish.
  2. 2Dot each tomato with butter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  3. 3Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the tomatoes are tender. Baste them occasionally with the melted butter and juices in the pan during baking.
  4. 4Serve the tomatoes plain or with boiled macaroni or rice. Pour the butter and juices from the pan over them before serving.
