Baked Tomatoes
Simple baked tomatoes, perfect as a side dish. Can be served plain or with pasta or rice.
Ingredients
- 4 medium Tomatoes (Choose ripe but firm tomatoes)
- 2 tablespoons Butter (Unsalted butter)
- 0.25 teaspoon Salt (Or to taste)
- 0.125 teaspoon Black pepper (Freshly ground, or to taste)
Instructions
- 1Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash and core the tomatoes. Place them in a baking dish.
- 2Dot each tomato with butter. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- 3Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the tomatoes are tender. Baste them occasionally with the melted butter and juices in the pan during baking.
- 4Serve the tomatoes plain or with boiled macaroni or rice. Pour the butter and juices from the pan over them before serving.
